What makes a superhero super?
What makes a superhero super?
I’m going to tell you about a superhero you probably have never heard of. His name is Underdog! Know who that is? Underdog was a superhero popular years ago. He was really Shoeshine Boy, a sweet and lovable guy. But if bad guys came around, Shoeshine Boy would take an energy pill and change from Shoeshine Boy into Underdog and come to the rescue!
The Bible is full of superheroes. Do you know what made them superheroes?
It’s something called faith.
Now, Shoeshine Boy would take an energy pill to become Underdog. But you and I don’t need an energy pill to become a hero. We need faith.
We need faith to trust that:
- God loves us.
- Jesus died for us.
- And the Holy Spirit lives in us.
And when you have faith and believe that, you can really serve God in a wonderful way.
In the Bible, in Heb. 11, there’s a whole list of heroes. You know what the Bible says about them? It says they were heroes by faith.
When you believe that you can do mighty things for Jesus.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that faith is what makes us able to serve You in ways we can only wonder about. Thank You for the heroes in the Bible. Thank You that they were heroes not because of who they were, but because of their faith in You and that Jesus is our Great Savior, that He loves us and that He died for us.
About the Redeemer Community Church PCA children's devotions:
Sometimes it can be hard to break down Biblical truths for our kids into easy-to-understand and easy-to-remember bite-sized pieces. Pastor Chuck does this weekly in his Children's Sermon, and we're sharing key points from those sermons here each week. Feel free to use with your littles as conversation starters throughout the week, reminders of what we learned in church on Sundays, and just general opportunities to share our love of God's word and His love for us.
