Philosophy of Worship

Philosophy of Worship

As a Redeemed people, the primary purpose of our worship is to glorify the triune God of Scripture by ascribing to Him the glory that is due His name (Ps. 29:1-2). God redeems people through the blood of Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:7) in order for them to worship Him (Exod. 3:18; 20:1-3). Consequently, we are committed to gathering together every week to worship God in spirit and in truth (Jn. 4:24).

Every Lord’s Day, we seek to obey God by offering “acceptable worship [to Him] with reverence and awe” (Heb. 12:28). This means we follow the Regulative Principle of Worship by conforming the elements in our service to God according to what He has revealed in His Word by prescription or pattern. Therefore, we are committed to the weekly observance of the ordinary means of grace—the Word, sacraments, and prayer—through which Christ communes with His people and sanctifies them into a mature faith (Acts 2:42; Eph. 4:11-16). Moreover, since our worship is regulated by God’s Word, we obey Him by “singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in [our] hearts to God” (Col. 3:16).
