Love my enemies?
Who loves you?
Mom, dad, grandparents, teachers?
Who do you love?
Parents? Friends?
Well, how many of you love your enemies? People who are mean to you? Who take your toys? Who talk bad about you?
Jesus said to love your enemies. It can be pretty tough, right? It’s easy to love people who love you, take care of you, who are kind to you. It’s hard to love people who are ugly to you.
When you love your enemies, you show that you’re one of God’s children. You show that Jesus has done something in your heart and that He’s our Savior.
Jesus loved His enemies. Did you know that I was his enemy? And Jesus loved me anyway. Even though He knew I was a sinner, Jesus went and got on the cross for me. That’s really loving your enemies, isn’t it?
Even though we still sin, Jesus came to save us. That’s what makes us want to love other people – to show the love of Jesus and to show that He’s changed our hearts.
About the Redeemer Community Church PCA children's devotions:
Sometimes it can be hard to break down Biblical truths for our kids into easy-to-understand and easy-to-remember bite-sized pieces. Pastor Chuck does this weekly in his Children's Sermon, and we're sharing key points from those sermons here each week. Feel free to use with your littles as conversation starters throughout the week, reminders of what we learned in church on Sundays, and just general opportunities to share our love of God's word and His love for us.
